NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY (NIFT) is premier institute providing various programs on design, management and technology. NIFT has its twelve centers in all over India that is New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Raebareli, Bhopal, Kannur, Patna and Shillong. NIFT not only has its centre in India but also has one centre at Mauritius.

NIFT provides various under graduate programs, post graduates programs and doctoral programs. B.Des. (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication) are under graduate design programs at NIFT. B.FTech. (Apparel Production) is the technology program at under graduate level. NIFT provides masters in all the above under graduate programs like M.Des (Master of Design), M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management), M.F Tech (Master of Fashion Technology). Bachelor’s degree is of 4 years at NIFT. On first year of bachelor’s degree there will be common foundation programme and from second year students have to select the course in which they have to specialize. Post graduation program is of 2 years at NIFT. The upper age limit for applying in under graduation program at NIFT is 23 years and there is no age limit for appearing for post graduation program.

Designing exam at NIFT consist of CAT (creative ability test), GAT (general ability test) and situation test. For B.F Tech exam along with GAT (general ability test), MAT (managerial ability test) is to be given. GAT, MAT and group discussion and interview is conducted for post graduation program at NIFT. Topics included under various exams by NIFT for CAT section test includes design and innovation ability and power of observation of the candidate etc. GAT section includes Quantitative Ability, English Comprehension, and Communication Ability etc. MAT exam includes Case Study, Logical Ability. Eligibility for applying in NIFT for under graduate program at NIFT is 10+2 (any stream) or its equivalent from any recognized institute/centre. For post graduate program candidate must have any bachelor’s degree or bachelor’s degree from any designing field or its equivalent. Forms to apply for NIFT is available from the month of October till mid November and its exam will be in the month of February.
